Recycled Saree Fabric – You may notice that your kitchen towel is already pre-loved, and may display small patches and tiny imperfections. That is what we love about remade saree products, that they have borne witness to the women who loved them first! Each Kantha Kitchen Towel goes through the hands of 3 women and creates 5 hours of work!
These Colourful tea towels are made in India by a social enterprise that is dedicated to empowering women in India to help break the cycle of poverty that has a hold on their families and communities. They do this through fair wages, women empowerment, and by giving them space to come together as a community.
What is Kantha?
Kantha (simply means : “patched cloth”) refers to both the tradition of producing these unique, quilted textiles (making something useful and alluring out of discarded and unused items), as well as the craft and stitch itself (a small, straight-running stitch especially in Bengali embroidery).
